{"id":180,"date":"2014-08-08T00:10:55","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T00:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madrian.us\/?p=180"},"modified":"2014-08-18T12:04:31","modified_gmt":"2014-08-18T12:04:31","slug":"where-to-eat-drink-in-boston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/madrian.us\/?p=180","title":{"rendered":"Where to eat\/ drink in Boston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to our <a href=\"http:\/\/madrian.us\/?p=69\">list of things to do in Boston<\/a>, we have some recommendations for places to eat and drink near where you&#8217;re staying:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marriott Hotel\/ Kendall Square:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Emma&#8217;s:\u00a0 <\/strong>A very small and cozy pizzeria that consistently has good food.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meadhall:<\/strong> Tasty, hearty food with one of the most extensive beer lists in Boston.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Friendly Toast:<\/strong> A retro diner that specializes in brunch but serves good food all day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bon Me:<\/strong> The brick and mortar restaurant of the hip Vietnamese food truck, serving bahn mi (sandwiches) and rice bowls.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clover: <\/strong>Delicious food (that all happens to be vegetarian), served fast and cheaply.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Area 4:<\/strong> Great pizzas plus some, with a cool vibe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cambridge Brewing Company:<\/strong> A brewpub that is now a bit of a Kendall Square institution. We usually go for drinks but they do have a decent menu as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Charles Hotel\/ Harvard Square:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tory Row:<\/strong> modern pub with clean lines and a simple but tasty menu and good beers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Sinclair: <\/strong>a new restaurant with what might be described as fancy comfort food on the menu.\u00a0 It has a great roof deck for when the weather is nice.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Russell House Tavern: <\/strong>Somewhat upscale gastro-pub housed in a classic brick house from the early 1800s.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chutney&#8217;s: <\/strong>Indian food in wraps or &#8216;naaninis&#8217;. Delicious and inexpensive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cambridge 1: <\/strong>Inventive pizzas with things like lobster, arugula, or potatoes on them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Cellar: <\/strong>A slight walk from Harvard Square, this basement bar has a cozy atmosphere and delicious rosemary-truffle oil fries among other things.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clover:<\/strong> See description for the Kendall Square location.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mary Prentiss Inn\/ Porter Square:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Christopher&#8217;s:\u00a0<\/strong>A cozy restaurant serving pub food and American cuisine with a great beer list. Nice patio outside.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Guilia:<\/strong> Upscale, modern Italian food with a concentration on quality. May require a reservation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Abbey:\u00a0<\/strong>Upscale pizzas and gastro-pub food in a modern but cozy setting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elephant Walk:\u00a0 <\/strong>A French-Cambodian restaurant with interesting foods from both cultures and fusions between the two.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Andy&#8217;s Diner: <\/strong>A classic no-nonsense Boston diner, complete with portraits of Larry Bird on the walls.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rod Dee:<\/strong> One of our favorite Thai places in Boston.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pizzeria Posto:<\/strong> One of only a couple certified Neopolitan Pizzerias in the US. Italian style pizzas with quality ingredients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Others favorites around Boston. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Best sandwiches: <strong>Dave&#8217;s Fresh Pasta<\/strong>, Davis Square. A pasta and grocery store with a deli counter that serves up some amazing sandwiches like prosciutto with fig jam.<\/li>\n<li>Best Italian: <strong>Giacamo&#8217;s<\/strong>, North End. Incredibly delicious Italian in the traditional Little Italy of Boston. It&#8217;s so good there&#8217;s always a wait, so get there early!<\/li>\n<li>Best burger: <strong>Bukowski&#8217;<\/strong>s in Inman Square and the Back Bay. We have a soft spot for their no nonsense burger since we had one on our first date! <strong>RF O&#8217;Sullivan&#8217;s<\/strong> in Somerville also has excellent burgers.<\/li>\n<li>Best BBQ: <strong>Blue Ribbon BBQ<\/strong> in Arlington.<\/li>\n<li>Best lobster roll: <strong>Alive and Kicking<\/strong>. Easily one of the best gems in the Boston area.<\/li>\n<li>Best seafood (other): <strong>Belle Island Seafood<\/strong>, but people also enjoy <strong>Legal Seafood<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Best place to get a fancy cocktail with your delicious meal: <strong>Eastern Standard <\/strong>in\u00a0Kenmore Square or\u00a0<strong>Drink<\/strong> in Fort Point.<\/li>\n<li>Best sushi: <strong>Avana Sushi<\/strong>, Chinatown. It&#8217;s an experience!<\/li>\n<li>Best Chinese: Adrian&#8217;s partial to <strong>China King<\/strong> in Chinatown, while we both also love <strong>Qingdao Garden<\/strong> in North Cambridge and <strong>Wai Wai<\/strong>, also in Chinatown.<\/li>\n<li>Best falafel\/ schwarma: <strong>Schwarma Place<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Best beer selection: <strong>Meadhall<\/strong> or <strong>Lord Hobo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I hope you find something you like!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to our list of things to do in Boston, we have some recommendations for places to eat and drink near where you&#8217;re staying: Marriott Hotel\/ Kendall Square: Emma&#8217;s:\u00a0 A very small and cozy pizzeria that consistently has good food.
